Overview

This tour, the first of its kind in the area, in a partnership with Anura Ecological Park and guided by a biologist or entomologist, allows you to experience the wonders of the insect world through the eyes of an expert biologist. You’ll witness how insect activity transforms as the sun sets, shifting from the familiar beauty of butterflies and bees to lesser-known but equally fascinating nocturnal creatures like millipedes, grasshoppers, and moths.

The tour begins outside the forest, exploring open areas where you can observe butterflies, grasshoppers, dragonflies, and more. You might spot a parasitoid wasp, which can only complete its life cycle by laying eggs inside a living insect, or see ants busily tending to their aphid livestock.

As the sun sets, cicadas and crickets will begin their evening chorus. We’ll venture into the dark forest in search of curious creatures like harvestmen—scavengers that glow under UV light—and thread-legged assassin bugs, deceptively delicate predators that lie in wait to ambush unsuspecting insects and drain their insides. We guarantee you’ll leave this tour with a newfound appreciation for the tiny creatures that rule the world!

You’ll also learn about stingless social bees and their nighttime tasks. Every tour is a unique surprise, depending on what we find!

Beyond the world of creepy crawlies, this regenerating forest reserve is also a great place to spot amphibians, including the famous Red-eyed Tree Frog. You may even encounter reptiles like snakes and mammals such as sloths.
