Overview

Costa Rica is one of the most biodiverse places on the planet. Whether you’re a seasoned birder, a nature enthusiast, a bird photographer, or simply curious about the incredible bird kingdom, our guided birdwatching experience will connect you with some of the most fascinating species like the Resplendent Quetzal, hummingbirds, Long-tailed Manakin, Fiery-billed Aracari, Blue-gray Tanager, Keel-billed Toucan, trogons, Scarlet Macaw, Great Curassow, and Keel-billed Motmot.

Costa Rica is home to six species of toucans, including the colorful Keel-billed Toucan, the large Chestnut-mandibled Toucan, the rare Yellow-eared Toucanet, the vibrant Collared Aracari, the striking Fiery-billed Aracari, and the smaller Emerald Toucanet.

Some of these magnificent species will make you wonder if you’re looking at modern-day dinosaurs—after all, birds are their closest living relatives! Our expert guides will not only help you spot them but also share the stories behind their unique behaviors, songs, and adaptations.

We operate in three key birding regions, each offering a unique experience filled with remarkable species.

Arenal (La Fortuna) – Over 400 bird species registered.
On carefully selected trails, you’ll have the chance to see the iconic Keel-billed Toucan and Collared Aracari, vibrant tanagers and honeycreepers, and majestic hawks and eagles soaring over the forest. No need to worry about the weather—if it rains, we have comfortable sheltered options, making this the perfect activity to enjoy in La Fortuna even on rainy days.

Bring your Binoculars but don´t worry if you don´t have good binoculars for Birdwatching, we have equipment for a great observation.

Monteverde Cloud Forest – Over 500 bird species registered.
This misty, mystical forest is one of the best places in the world to spot the legendary Resplendent Quetzal, with its iridescent green feathers and long tail plumes. Alongside it, you might also encounter the Three-wattled Bellbird, whose call can be heard from miles away, tiny but spectacular hummingbirds, including the Violet Sabrewing, and the playful Long-tailed Manakin, known for its dancing courtship display.

San Ramón Cloud Forest – A hidden gem.
Few travelers know about this secret paradise, yet it’s one of the best places to witness rare and highland species in a quiet, immersive setting. This route, located between San José and La Fortuna, offers nesting quetzals, an unforgettable sight for any visitor, the Ornate Hawk-eagle, a true rainforest predator, and colorful species such as the Emerald Tanager and Black Guan, and much more.
